This class is concerned with "process" rather than "product". This class allows the student to experiment and introduce new ideas. Class will focus on physical coordination and flexibility, emotional stability, mental growth, social and communication skills and artistic appreciation.

*Students will NOT participate in a showcase in May. Creative drama is a developmental tool to strengthen a child's understanding of ones self, others and their environment.

Students are involved in a series of fun-filled learning activities which aim to develop ongoing confidence, self-esteem and skill in verbal communications. Our developmental drama program provides young children with unique opportunities to develop clear speech, fluent delivery and pleasing social skills. Children who mix well with others find it easier to make friends and adjust to new situations. Our confidence building program helps to give them the skills to be participants in all aspects of their lives, able to ask questions, seek answers and share information with others.

This weekly class gives students in this age group many opportunities to act out a great variety of situations. The main thrust of this program is developmental drama. In a fun-filled atmosphere, our class aim is to give young people ongoing confidence, self-esteem and skills in verbal communication. The confident, articulate child finds it easier to make friends, accept new challenges and explore new directions. Our program is designed to help each child achieve these invaluable life skills. Encouraging students to become confident, articulate communicators. However, the theater arts side of the program is very comprehensive, covering spontaneous improvisation, voice production, small group improvisation with specific directives, mini scripts, character analysis, open ended dialogues, theater games, quick fire dialogues, monologues, structured scenes, set and costume design.

An introduction to Tech Theater. Class will explore the backstage world of theater. Students will investigate several areas of production and design. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about the following areas of technical theater production:
• Theater and Shop Safety
• Scenic design fundamentals and set construction
• Technical aspects and basic operation of lighting technology
• Technical aspects and basic operation of sound technology
• Scenic painting
• Use of properties on stage and construction
• Theater History
• Exploration of career opportunities in the realm of theater
*All students will have the opportunity to run tech for all Curtain Call Academy performances.

CCA's Musical Theater Classes focus on applying and bringing together the disciplines of singing, acting, and dancing. Each season, this Musical Theater class will strengthen these elements by learning and performing a Musical. The Musical Theater class will explore a diversity of rehearsal tools and techniques in pursuit of a dynamic and authentic performance. This is key in preparing for a serious pursuit of Musical Theater.
